Spot #4 – CALA DEL LEONE

Cala del Leone is a bay located between Calignaia and Torre del Romito promontory, where the massive castle that was owned by Sidney Sonnino stands out.

The landscape and the evocative nature causes many visitors to venture there, especially during the summer.

It is located along the stretch called “Il Romito”, between Calafuria and the town of Quercianella, just north of Castello Sonnino. Starting from the littoral road there is a path down to the beach, with the last piece of steps carved into the rock.

The name comes from Leone De Renzis Sonnino, Sidney Sonnino’s grandson.
